Mat Rules
Respect for training partners and the academy space is essential. Please observe the following mat rules at all times:
- No shoes on the mat. Wear sandals or slides when off the mat, especially in bathrooms.
- No bare feet in bathrooms.
- Tap early and tap often — protect yourself and your partners.
- No coaching or giving instructions from off the mat. Allow instructors to lead.
- Arrive on time for class; if late, wait at the edge of the mat until the instructor signals you to join. This helps avoid disrupting instruction or forcing the class to pause.
- Keep nails trimmed short and personal hygiene maintained.
- No food, drink, or gum on the mats. Water bottles only and kept off to the side.
- Maintain self-control at all times — this is a place to learn, not to prove dominance.
- No politics. No religion. No egos. Just Jiu-Jitsu.
These rules ensure a safe, clean, and respectful environment for everyone to enjoy training.
