Shanna Colmenero is the Manager and Co-Founder of State of Flow BJJ.

Shanna is from Port Huron, Michigan. After graduating high school and enlisting in the U.S. Navy, she served aboard the USS Germantown home ported in San Diego, California. As global conflicts escalated, she transitioned to became a Hospital Corpsman—where she discovered her true calling in healthcare and service.

Never one to be idle, she quickly volunteered for the U.S. Navy/Marine Corps FMF program. While attached to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), she earned the prestigious Fleet Marine Force (FMF) warfare qualification. Her training included advanced combat casualty care, emergency medicine with clinical experience in the ER at UCLA’s downtown hospital. Throughout her Naval career, she deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT), earning multiple personal, unit, and campaign awards.

Shanna pursued higher education while continuing her medical career, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management from Southern Illinois University and her License as a Practical Nurse (LPN).

Having lived across the U.S. and around the world, Shanna has seen the positive impact of martial arts/sports in communities everywhere. She is passionate about bringing those same benefits to Southeast Michigan—through the programs at State of Flow BJJ.
