Coach Ramon is a U.S. Navy veteran with a strong background in training, leadership, and service. He deployed multiple times, including duty with the U.S. Army. Throughout his service he gained expertise in small-unit tactics, detainee operations, force protection, and close-quarters battle, earning Naval Enlisted Classifications (NECs) 90DO, 90NI, 90CS. From his service in Iraq, he earned the Combat Action Badge, Army Achievement Medal, and other campaign awards. As assistant Boarding Officer for PC Crew Foxtrot’s Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) team, he led over 100 high-risk maritime interdiction operations. He has served as an Instructor (NEC 9502), Command Fitness Leader (NEC 95PT), and as a training team member for Anti-terrorism and Force Protection.
Coach Ramon earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). After his military career, he continued supporting the U.S. Navy as a Project Support Engineer (Cruisers and Destroyers) for Naval Sea Systems Command 05, before relocating to Michigan to pursue his passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu full-time.
Coach Ramon began training jiu jitsu in 2009 under Marco de Lima while stationed in Connecticut and has since trained and competed internationally in the U.S., Middle East, and Latin America. He earned his brown belt from Fernando Cardenas (Alliance, Quito, Ecuador). He is currently under Professor Diego Bispo, Diego Bispo Academy, Virginia Beach, VA.
